Golf Swing Tips: Be Square At The Top

easiest golf swing lessonsIn a lot of golf swing tips you read about these days, many discuss how to properly transition from the completion of the back swing to the commencement of the down swing.

Some of the golf swing tips about how to transition from the completion of the back swing to the commencement of the downswing suggest that you can square the club face to the ball by manipulating the club in a specific manner at the beginning of the downswing.

Indeed, a recent article suggested that you should be able to get the club face in a correct alignment to contact the club squarely and hit a straight golf shot

by shifting your weight to the left side and concentrating on the left  knee at the beginning of the down swing.

Here is a part of the article:

“Many golfers experience a momentary pause between the back swing and the start of the downswing. The pause is experienced when the swing changes direction. At the time of the momentary pause, the golfer has the opportunity to get the downswing right. By shifting your weight on the left side and concentrating on the left knee, the club will fall into the right inside slot of the downswing.” Read more…www.egolfguru.com/basic-golf-swings/753/golf-downswing-tips-master-the-golf-downswing/.

Some golfers may be able to do so but why not get the club face in the right position at the top so there would be no need to do anything other than to allow the club face to return to the ball reflexively in order to produce a straight golf shot.

Ben Hogan once remarked that it is very difficult to square the club face to the ball once the downswing begins unless the club face is already square at the beginning of the downswing or, words to this effect.

Certainly, this has been my experience through the years.

If you have established a square club face at the completion of your back swing, there is no need to do anything but to allow the club face to return to the ball in a reflexive manner in order to hit straight golf shots. The club will naturally fall into into the right inside slot of the downswing in such an instance.

Instead of trying to manipulate your left knee in some way during your downswing in order to drop your club into the right inside slot, you should ensure your club face is square at the top of your back swing and then allow your club face to return to the ball in a reflexive way.

This seem to me to be a better golf swing tip.
